Although San Antonio Spurs have been trying to find their identity this season, Rudy Gay has shown everyone that he is back in form.
On the Monday night game of basketball between San Antonio Spurs VS Philadelphia 76ers, Spurs came out winning by 123-96.
Spurs were led by Rudy Gay who scored 20 points for the night.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said, “I think we have started to figure out each other more than ever. Who has the mismatches on the court. Usually, players look for these mismatches and our guys have figured it out. We have worked on our defense, which is in rhythm and we have shown this tonight at our homestand. I am pleased with our progress but we still have a long way to go.”
Other players from San Antonio Spurs like Aldridge added 10 rebounds and DeRozan had seven assists for the team who closed their six-game homestand with 5-1.
As for 76ers, they were led by J.J. Redick and Ben Simmons who both scored 16 points each. As for Joel Embiid, he was limited to 13 points with his 11 rebounds while Jimmy Butler only scored 6 points for the team.
Although Gay is suffering from the after-effects of the ruptured Achilles tendon from two years ago, the 6 feet 8 inches tall guard is still averaging in 14 points per game this season. However, surprisingly he is averaging in 18.8 points in his last seven games.
Popovich spoke in praise for Jimmy Butler, who himself is going to be the coach on the US Men’s basketball team in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
