Machado vs. Evans; Alberto Machado knocks out Yuandale Evans in only three minutes

On the Sunday night boxing match of Machado vs. Evans for the WBA Super Featherweight title ended in a knockout in only three minutes of the opening round at the Madison Square Garden.

Alberto Machado; the Puerto Rican Southpaw who is being managed by the Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto was able to drop Evans twice on the night’s fight before he finished him off with a knockout in only 22 minutes and 25 seconds.

Machado took an aggressive approach for the fight from the very start. With one minute gone, he found the opportunity to deliver a right hook from down below that dropped the American fighter on his knees for the first time.

Evans managed to get on his feet and was also able to take the six punches barrage on his body but still fell down. He was in trouble from the very first second of the fight until the time it ended in his defeat.

Evans stood up after the second fall but this time Machado delivered an uppercut which left the American landing on his back. Referee Gonzalez called off the match without the need for the count.

This was the second fight of Machado but he is already calling out Miguel Berchelt; the WBC Holder for a unification fight.

Machado said to media, “I can be the best and I want to be the champion and no. 1 in the world but Miguel could also be the one.  Why not make this a Mexico vs. Puerto Rico fight?”
