Elina Svitolina and Karolina Pliskova have both managed to make it to the semi finals of the WTA Finals in Singapore.
Pliskova became the first player to qualify for the semi finals of WTA Finals after defeating her opponent Petra Kvitova. The second qualifier was Svitolina who defeated the defending champion Carolina Wozniacki to secure her spot in the semi finals.
Svitolina managed to gain the victory by 5-7, 7-5 and 6-3. She said in a post game interview, “It was an amazing match; Carolina as always brings out the best in you, to push yourself. I thank her for pushing me to my limits.”
This was the second loss of Wozniacki this week.
Pliskova also had a tough battle against Kvitova as she reeled back from the defeat of first set of 0-3 to win the match by defeating her opponent by 6-3 and 6-4 in last two sets.
Pliskova shared her immense joy in a statement, “I cannot explain my happiness right now. It was a great match and my opponent was a really good player. She has beaten me in all past matches but I knew I had a chance because I was playing well”.
