Kyle Edmund is now on track to win his maiden ATP Tour Tile after his opponent in the quarter finals; Ilya Ivashka was forced to retire from the match after suffering from a thigh injury.
Edmund has achieved the world ranking no. 14 this year as he made it to the semi final of the Grand Slam in Australia. He defeated Andy Murray and got himself registered for the first ATP Toru Title Final.
In Antwerp, Edmund was the first seed and with only playing one match, he made it into the last four. His only match win was against Albert Ramos Vinolas on Thursday which Edmund won in the second round matches.
Edmund who is 23 years old was scheduled for a match with the Belarusian qualifier Ivashka on Friday, but Ivashka had to bring his own run at the tournament to a premature end with a thigh injury.
Now Edmund is set to face off the France’s former world no. 7 Richard Gasquet in the semi final match on Saturday. Edmund is hoping to make it into the final.
Gasquet, the fourth seed of the event was able to reach the semi finals after defeating the German Jan Leonard Struff. One other semi final match will be played in between sixth seed player Gael Monfils and second seed Diego Schwartzman.
