Johanna Konta reaches to the semi-finals of Kremlin Cup in Moscow

Johanna Konta was able to defeat her opponent Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the quarter finals match and enter the Semi Finals of the Kremlin Open in Moscow.

British No. 1 managed to reach the last eight after defeating players like Elsie and Daria. She is continuing her excellent performance in the Russian Capital when she gained the victory over Sasnovich by 2-6, 6-2 and 7-6.

Konta who is on the world rankings no. 44 was able to make into the first semi finals since June. Her next opponent is going to be Darai Kastakina who herself made it into the semi finals after defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova by 6-4 and 6-3.

Anastasija Seveastova has also made it into the last four of the event after winning match against Russian veteran player Vera Zvonareva by 4-5, 7-5 and 6-3. Her next opponent in the semi finals will be Ons Jabeur who defeated the eight seed Anett Kontaveit by 7-5 and 6-1.

On the other hand, Nick Kyrgios had to withdraw from the tournament after suffering an elbow injury. This allowed Mirza Basic to win by default and he will face Karen Khachanov in the quarter finals.

Cameron Norrie suffered a defeat at the hands of Diego Schwartzman in the European Open quarter finals.

British no. 2 Norrie was defeated in two hours and 34 minutes by 7-6, 6-7 and 7-5.
