Presidents Cup 2026 results: Jacob Bridgeman seals record US comeback as Americans beat Internationals 17-13 at Medinah

The Presidents Cup 2026 ended with the United States holding the trophy again, but on Saturday night at Medinah that looked a long way off. Trailing the International Team 10.5-7.5 going into Sunday singles, Brandt Snedeker’s side took 9.5 of the 12 points available and won 17-13 at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago, according to the PGA Tour and Sky Sports.

It’s the biggest final day comeback in the event’s history. It also gives the Americans an 11th straight Presidents Cup and an all-time record of 14 wins, one loss and one tie. Geoff Ogilvy’s Internationals are still waiting for their first win since 1998.

How Jacob Bridgeman sealed the Presidents Cup

The winning point came from a debutant. Jacob Bridgeman, who won the Genesis Invitational in February and the Biltmore Championship last week, holed a par putt of about four feet on the 18th green to beat Min Woo Lee 1 up. That was the point that took the US past the 15.5 they needed, and it was also Bridgeman’s first Presidents Cup point of the week.

Bridgeman told Golf Channel he heard a fan call him the best putter in the world as he stood over it. His own verdict on the putt: “This is cake. This is so easy.”

He had plenty of company in the late matches. Chris Gotterup beat Christiaan Bezuidenhout 1 up, Collin Morikawa beat Hideki Matsuyama 1 up, Patrick Cantlay beat Adam Scott 2 and 1, and 21-year-old rookie Jackson Koivun beat Si Woo Kim 2 up. Those four matches, plus Bridgeman’s, were where a close afternoon became a rout.

Presidents Cup 2026 singles results

Here is every Sunday singles match, in playing order, as listed in the official results reported by the PGA Tour and Yahoo Sports.

Tom Kim and Sungjae Im were the only International winners, and Nick Taylor’s half against Russell Henley was the only other point Ogilvy’s team collected all day.

Key numbers from Medinah

• 17-13: the final score, after the US trailed by three going into Sunday.
• 9.5 of 12: singles points won by the Americans. They needed 8 to win outright.
• 9 wins, 2 losses, 1 half: the US record in the singles.
• 11: straight Presidents Cup wins for the United States.
• 14-1-1: the all-time US record across 16 editions.
• 1998: the year of the International Team’s only win, in Australia.

The collapse will sting for Ogilvy’s players. They swept Friday’s foursomes and still led by three after Saturday, as we reported in our Saturday Presidents Cup scores. Only Tom Kim and Im won on Sunday, and the top of the American order (Young, Thomas and Scheffler) set the tone before the middle of the draw finished the job.

How Presidents Cup scoring works

If you only tuned in for Sunday, here’s the short version. The Presidents Cup has 30 matches over four days: team fourballs and foursomes from Thursday to Saturday, then 12 singles on Sunday in which every player on both sides plays. Each match is worth one point, and a halved match gives each side half a point.

A team needs 15.5 points to win outright. A 15-15 finish is a tie, which has only happened once, in 2003. That’s why the Internationals’ three point lead mattered so much going into Sunday: the US had to win two thirds of the singles points just to lift the trophy, and they did better than that.

What’s next: Presidents Cup 2028 at Kingston Heath

The next Presidents Cup will be played in 2028 at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia, according to Sky Sports and the event’s official future venues page. Exact dates and tee times have not been announced yet. Australia is where the Internationals won their only Cup, back in 1998.

For the Americans, Medinah adds another chapter to a run that now stretches back more than two decades. For the Internationals, it’s a near miss that will hurt more than most, because this one was in their hands with 12 matches to play.
