Curran, now 30, played a vital role for the Stars throughout the competition, combining wicket-taking consistency with useful contributions down the order. Despite finishing third in the group stage, Hobart Hurricanes did not have a single player selected, while seventh-placed Melbourne Renegades were also unrepresented. Players from six of the eight teams featured in the final squad, which was chosen collectively by the eight BBL head coaches.
